Today's Bandit 1250 pic

Wellington Harbour.

  1. Really like your blog! I have an 09 1250 Bandit ABS here in the States. Taking her out of Winter storage soon and wondered if you knew an easy way to "cold crank" the bike? In the old days this could be done by just leaving the kill switch in the off position. Must be a fuse or something I could pull to disable the ignition but still let me turn the engine over. Helpful after a bike's been sitting for 4 or 5 months. Any ideas?

    1. Hi John. You could mess around with connectors to the injectors, but you are likely to just set up a fault code in the ECU. The simplest way to turn the engine without starting it is to put it on the main stand, have someone turn the back wheel in the normal direction of rotation in neutral and then shift it into 4th gear or so and turn it by hand. Taking the plugs out and having some light oil in the bores would help this

    2. That's a great idea! Thanks for the tip. With any luck I'll be back riding this weekend. Stay safe!
